This past Friday myself and a few of my friends (and some people who have become friends) gathered to take over the city of Manchester New Hampshire. It was a gathering we like to call the Batman Bar Crawl.
And yes it is exactly what it sounds like. The group of us got in our batman best and hit the city in true villain and hero status. We spent the night drinking, creeping people out and playing pranks on the Bats himself. People seemed to either love us or not understand us. But over all no one seemed to care what they thought. We were having a blast just having some time to escape the “real” adult world and reverting to childhood loves.
I have said it before and I will always say it- just because we get older does not mean when need to give up doing the things we enjoy. If you want to dress up like comic book characters and get drunk- more power to you!!
One of the most fun of this event was that all the costumes were homemade. (Batman and Catwoman do costumes and comic book character events for a hobby which will explain why their costumes were a lot more intense than the rest of us) Most of us used items from our closet or bought things that could really help make our characters come alive. It really was a nerd or theater kids dream!
and of course no post would be complete without some photos
So I know this is super late Since FNO was Sept 6th. But with school, work and interning something had to take the back burner until I had some free time. Sadly it had to be blogging. But enough about that and more about Fashion Night out!
This year three of my favorite ladies and I strutted our sexy selves over to Boston’s fashion district for a night of champagne, good company and of course ALL of the hot styles for Fall 2012.
For anyone who has never been to a Fashion Night Out (FNO for short) let me explain. It is all about showing off the newest trends to the public and the fashionistas of the world. On Newbury Street we found everything from sale in different stores, awesome give-aways (CUPCAKES and Bubbly), music and amazing company. Stores are a little packed so it makes it time consuming to actually buy things during the event. But let me tell you my fall closet got so many ideas for its upgrade. There were also donation trucks that you could bring slightly used clothes to donate to Dress for Success, which is an organization that helps low income women find interview and work appropriate clothing. They also help woman find employment in there area.
Though most of the stores that participated in FNO Boston are VERY high end and something I could never afford, the night was great. I am all about finding your own personal style and making it work for you in the most affordable way. By seeing the newest trends it made it easier to figure out what you love and how to make it work for you and your budget. Between me and the three other lovely ladies (Jaime, Alicia and Katie) we had 4 different style in the most affordable fashions.
Welcome to September. Like I have said before fall is my all time favorite season. Everything from the change in the weather, the abundance of apple and apple cider, the feeling of starting new and of course the FASHION. Here in Boston we will be having the 4th annual fashion night out which I cannot wait to go to on September 6th (will have an update about that later on in the week). I could not be more excited to be apart of this night because it is something I never ever thought I would find myself at.
Continuing on the theme of things I have never done, this month I have challenged myself to do things outside of my comfort zone or to do things I have never done before. I feel as though I have gotten myself stuck in this rut of doing the same things every day. I never really have begun to explore the city I have been a part of for almost ALL of my life. I have gotten so comfortable just doing what every one wants to do, that I forget what it is really like to get into the things I want to do.
Tonight is a small kick of to this challenge. It is one of my best friends birthday tonight and we are obviously going to rock it out like the fab women we are. The difference is we are going to a bar in a richer part of the city that is VERY outside of the comfort zone I am used to. I am very much a “dive” bar kind of girl. I like the places where I don’t have to worry as much about super creeps trying hook up with me because that isn’t who I am anymore. But I also do really like going to places where I can dance too. So tonight I am putting aside all my fears of these kinds of places and just going to go out and have a great time with my friends. Pushing away as much of the anxiety as I can in order to just have a great time with great people.
I am so excited for all of the changes that are going to be happen in the next month, both school wise, social wise and personally. And of course I’ll be keeping you all updated!
